Advancing My PR Expertise in Digital Marketing
At the start of my master's journey, I set clear objectives within my Professional Development Learning (PDL) timeline, one of which was to enhance my strategic communication skills and apply them effectively within digital marketing. This month, my coursework in Strategic Internet Public Relations provided valuable insights into PR’s role in reputation management, crisis communication, media relations, and influencer strategy.
One of the most significant takeaways from this course was the importance of credibility and structured communication in PR. Instructor feedback emphasized the need for scholarly rigor, pushing me to refine my writing by incorporating proper citations and theoretical connections. This challenge has strengthened my ability to create well-researched, authoritative content—an essential skill for any digital marketing professional.
Additionally, my crisis communication case study on the Pepsi Syringe Scandal reinforced how media influence can shape public perception and organizational responses. Analyzing how Pepsi navigated the crisis helped me recognize the importance of swift, transparent messaging, a lesson I plan to apply in real-world brand management scenarios.
Beyond crisis management, this course deepened my understanding of stakeholder engagement and influencer marketing. As I refine PR strategies for Toned Body Sculpting, I’m applying what I’ve learned about leveraging micro-influencers to build brand credibility. This knowledge will directly impact my ability to craft effective outreach strategies, ensuring that influencer partnerships align with brand goals and audience expectations.
Furthermore, I strengthened my press release writing skills, particularly through my work on Toned Body Sculpting’s 10-year anniversary event.
